Setting the standard in military: website for the 1st Ukrainian drone interceptor
Mission brief
Darknode is a subdivision specializing in drone interceptors. Part of the 412th Nemesis brigade of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces, their crews operate in the skies, reinforcing the national air defense with precision and innovation.
Military themes always bring extra challenge—like in this case, we couldn’t reveal people and tech behind it. Yet, the site had to ignite curiosity and inspire recruitment without directly showing the machinery of war.
Getting the most out of a simple strategic task
Most military recruitment sites are dry, templated, and transactional. So our goal was to evoke interest, reliability, and control—feelings aligned with military professionals and potential recruits.
We aimed to create a one-of-a-kind platform that positions Darknode not only as a unique Ukrainian subdivision but as a global pioneer.

Building a concept based on the identity
We grounded the design in Darknode’s existing visual identity. Their signature typeface became the spine; we paired it with a sharp, modern companion to extend flexibility.
The red accent wasn’t just a color—it became a tactical element. Something we’d later weaponize throughout the interface.
First impression that locks attention
A subtle military haze dissolves as the loading bar hits 100%, like focusing a targeting lens. This transition sets the tone: measured tension, operational focus, readiness.
For a more realistic military approach, we added a Night Mode switch. One click, and the interface is flooded with deep red light—a visual echo of drone optics scanning in low visibility.

Military-inspired visual language
Crosshairs, motion blur, glitch overlays—each element mirrors drone vision and field optics. Typography animates as if being “fired” onto the screen, simulating the rhythm of a mission.
You can see the same vibe in small details throughout the page. Like a red dot in the hero section: it reads your x/y coordinates and mirrors movement like a live target camera feed. It’s minimal and alive, but it reminds users what this website is about.

Interactive elements that make users stay on the page
Such engagement transforms passive visitors into active participants, increasing time on page and brand recall.
As you scroll, enemy drones slide across the interface. Users can “neutralize” them by keeping scrolling—in a subtle, non-violent, yet interactive way. It sets the energy without crossing ethical lines—and crucial info remains secret.

3D merch showcase that drives action
To extend engagement beyond the screen, we rendered the Darknode merch in 3D. Shirts on rotating digital mannequins also serve as a donation tool, turning every purchase into support for the unit.
Flexible execution for long-term performance
The landing page was built in Webflow for a smooth and immersive experience. This tech stack allowed us to move fast—from concept to launch—while maintaining control over every interaction.
The platform gives the Darknode team full flexibility after launch. They can easily update information, adjust content, or rearrange sections without involving developers.
